5.6.3.1 Applying for Access Rights

SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c are insecure. Therefore, SNMPv3 is recommended. This
section uses SNMPv3 as an example.
Procedure
Step 1 Apply for a fixed IP address from the equipment room network administrator.
Step 2 Set the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway on the WebUI.

To manage the UPS by using an SNMP card, apply to the system
administrator of the SNMP card for access rights and add the NMS
information to the NMS access list of the SNMP card.
Before setting SNMP parameters, obtain the information listed as follows
from the NMS.

Description
The SNMP versions include SNMPv1,
SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3.
If you use SNMPv1 or SNMPv2c, enter the
read and write community names that comply
with the NMS. Otherwise, the device will not
connect to the NMS. The read community
name must be different from the write
community name.
To enhance the security, you need a user
name and password for authentication if you
use SNMPv3. After the authentication
succeeds, the UPS can communicate with the
NMS.
