1.4.1. Connection to the Pitot system
Using the specific pneumatic connection diagram to the aircraft (see appendix), connect
the Pt port of the test bench (#3) to the Pitot system of the aircraft.
Caution: Ensure that the connection between the bench and the aircraft, using third-
party equipment, is made correctly, as sudden disconnection or excessive leakage
could result in damage to the instruments.
1.4.2. Pitot leak test
1. Switch on the bench (#6).
2. Open the VENT valve (#8a) completely.
3. Close the PRESSURE CONTROL (#8b), BALANCE CONTROL (#8c) and
VACUUM CONTROL (#8d) valves completely.
4. Use the hand pump (#13) to fill up the pressure tank to 100KPa (#11).
5. Close the VENT valve (#8a).
Note: If a previous step is not performed correctly, close the PRESSURE CONTROL
valve (#8b). Slowly open the VENT valve (#8a) to return the system to atmospheric
pressure before disconnecting the bench (pneumatically).
6. Check the speed indicated on the airspeed anemometer (#1) and on the bench
while gently opening the PRESSURE CONTROL (#8b) valve until the aircraft
reaches approximately 75% of its full speed scale.
7. Close the PRESSURE CONTROL valve (#8b). After stabilization of the
instruments, monitor the airspeed (#1) for one minute. The airspeed must not
drop more than 3Kts (Knots) plus the leakage value measured at the Pitot
preliminary test (see 1.3.2).
8. Slowly open the VENT valve (#8a), the bench speed indicator returns zero until
the valve is fully opened.
9. Gently open the PRESSURE CONTROL valve (#8b) to return the system to the
ambient.
10. Unplug the line connecting the aircraft to the Pitot Port (Pt) (#3).
11. Gradually open the PRESSURE CONTROL valve (#8b) to purge the system and
drain the tank (#11) by actuating the switch (#10).
12. Close all the valves.
