Dynamic shift program (DSP)
Applies to vehicles: with tiptronic
The automatic transmission is electronically
controlled .
The transmission is self adapting and will au-
toma tically select t he best shift prog ram suit-
ed to the driving conditions and driving style .
The transmission will select one of the econo-
my programs when you drive at a steady
speed or a gradually changing speed without
heavy acceleration . This achieves optimum
fuel efficiency, with early upsh ifting and de-
layed downshifting.
The transmission will automatically select the
sporty shift programs whe n you drive at high-
er speeds, or w ith heavy acceleration and fre-
quent ly changing speeds. Upshifts are delayed
t o make f ull use of engine power. Downs hift-
ing takes place at higher engine speeds than
in the economy programs.
The selection of the most suitable shift pro-
gram is a conti nuous, automa t ic process. The
driver can also make t he t ransmission switch
to a sporty prog ram by quickly pressing down
the gas pedal.
This causes t he tran smission to shift down t o
a lower gear to achieve rapid acceleration, e.g.
for quickly passing another vehicle. You do not
need to press the gas pedal into the kick-down
range. After the transmission has upshifted,
the original program is selected according to
your driving style.
When driv ing on hills and mountains, the gear
selection adapts to the grade. This prevents
constant upshifting and downshifting when
driving uph ill.

Using the manual shift prog ram you can
manually select gears .

The tiptronic mode can be selected either w ith
the vehicle stat ionary or on the move.
