Chapter 6 – Controls
Caution
The emergency power system is for emergency low-
ering and stowing only. The length of time the pump
can be operated depends on the capacity of the bat-
teries. Do not use this system for normal operation.
• Hold the start/emergency power switch upward to
activate the emergency power system.
• Release the switch to disengage the emergency power
system.
If the engine is running, it will stop when the switch is
placed in the emergency power position.
The emergency power system may be used at the lower
controls to lower the platform during a platform overload
situation.

Horn Switch

The horn switch is to the left of the emergency stop button
on the upper control panel (refer to Figure 6.3). Hold the
switch upward to sound the horn.

Engine Speed Switch

The optional engine speed switch is to the left of the horn
switch on the upper control panel (refer to Figure 6.3). It
is used to set the engine idle speed to either high or low
idle. When in the downward or low engine speed position,
the engine idle speed is reduced to 1,300 rpm. Low speed
may be used to operate with reduced engine noise.

Override Switch

When the Snorkel Guard, platform overload system,
bumpguard system, or boom/drive cut-out is activated, the
override switch (refer to Figure 6.3) is used to override the
system to operate main boom up/down/retract, jib boom
up/down, or turntable rotation and drive functions. The
switch is spring returned to the normal operation position.
• Hold the switch upward to override the Snorkel Guard
or the platform overload system.
• Release the switch to the downward position to re-
sume normal machine operation.

Platform Foot Switch

The upper controls (refer to Figure 6.4) are interlocked
through the platform foot switch.

Step down on and hold the platform foot switch to activate
the drive and boom functions from the upper controls.

Platform Overload Warning Light

When the platform overload limit is exceeded, the horn will
sound intermittently and the platform overload light (refer
to Figure 6.3) will blink until the excess load is removed
from the platform.

Dual Platform Capacity System

There are two indicator lights on the upper control panel
(refer to Figure 6.3) that indicate whether the platform is in
the 600 lb or 1,000 lb region of the working envelope. Some
boom control functions prevent positioning the boom into a
restricted position.

Tilt Alarm

If the aerial platform chassis is out of level more than the
machine specified slope sensor alarm setting when the
main boom is raised or extended, an alarm will sound and
the tilt warning light on the lower control panels (refer to
Figure 6.3) will illuminate.

AC Generator Switch

The switch for the optional AC generator (refer to Figure
6.3) is located on the top of the upper control panel.
With the engine running, place the switch in the generator
position to provide electrical power to the electrical outlet
at the platform. Return the switch to the off position to turn
off the generator and resume machine operation.
Boom and drive functions will operate at reduced speeds
while the generator is operating.

Hydraulic Oil Warm-Up Switch

The switch for the optional (refer to Figure 6.5) is located
on the left side of the upper control panel.
