Overview

This section describes the system and where further information may be found. The
separate documents referred to are part of the documentation package provided in
the delivery.
ÄKTA ready XL is intended to be operated as an isocratic or gradient, low pressure,
automated liquid chromatography system using ¾ inch or 1 inch single-use isocratic
or gradient flow tubing kits and ReadyToProcess columns. The flow kit specifications
are described in the product documentation provided with each flow kit.
ÄKTA ready XL consists of an electrical cabinet in stainless steel with valves and
holders for fitting one or two disposable flow kits. The system unit does not contain
any wetted parts, these are all part of the flow kit. The system unit is equipped with
four system casters made of polyurethane. All of the system casters are lockable. Re-
fer to the General specification for information on the materials of construction.
Each system is equipped with a separate pump wagon made of stainless steel and
equipped with two identical diaphragm pumps. The wagon is equipped with four cas-
ters made of polyurethane. All of the casters are lockable. Technical specifications
are provided in the Bill of Material and in the manufacturer's user documentation.
On the outside of the system there is a switch for three modes of operation: Flowkit
Install, Run, and Drain.
The system is also equipped with transmitters and connection points for the flow kit
sensors and meters. See
