Minimum Framing Dimensions

If framing an enclosure for the VF fire pit, the following requirements must be met:

The enclosure must be constructed entirely out of non-combustible materials.

The fire pit must be recessed into the enclosure a minimum of 4" and a maximum of 8" from the top of the base
plate to the top of the finish material.

Accessing the components of the firepit for service or repair requires removing the fire pit assembly from the
fire pit enclosure. Do not encroach on the footprint of the fire pit base plate with any finish material (see
illustration below).

The framing width of the enclosure is determined partially based on the finished material being used on the
enclosure. To determine the width of the framing, take the outside dimensions of the bottom plate, add the
thickness of the finish material, and add the thickness of the backer board to be used. Multiply that by 2 and
add it to the width of the bottom plate. That calculation provides you with the minimum inside width of the
enclosure.
