Collecting around an obstruction
From time to time, there may be an obstruction (such as a tree or rock) in your survey area.
There is a temptation to pick up the system, move it around the obstruction and continue
collecting. This is wrong!
The correct way is to approach the obstruction from both directions. Granted there will not be
data where the obstruction is, but there will be data before and after it.
When you approach the obstruction, terminate the line by pressing End Line. The system will
advance you to the next line, but if you cycle back to the line using the 4 way directional
keypad, it will return to the same line, but in the reverse direction. The name of the line will now
contain an R at the end. Sometimes people prefer to collect all the lines in one direction, then
collect all the reverse lines on the other side of the obstruction.
In the example in, Line Y3 was partially collected due to an obstruction. To collect from the
other direction, the left arrow button was pressed on the 4-way directional keypad to return to
that same line, but now the line is drawn from the other direction. This new line will now be
labelled Y3R.

Line View
To display the currently selected grid line on the full screen, press the Line View button (Figure
7-12). In this view, you have the option of modifying the image by changing the Zoom, Color,
Filter, Gain and Soil Cal values. It is also possible to display other collected grid lines using the
keypad arrow buttons.
To exit from the Line View screen and return to Grid View, press the Back button. The Grid View
screen respects any display settings changed while in Line View. If the Soil Cal is changed, the
depth slices will be reprocessed.
