Your GENICOM Matrix Printer LA36 can operate either in a DIGITAL environment or a PC
environment. The printer is factory set to function in a DIGITAL environment, through a
serial interface. Its dual interface allows you to connect it to both environments at the same
time. The printer will automatically switch to the proper communication type (parallel or
serial).
Note:
If you intend to use a single type of communication, set the printer to this
specific type using the Set-Up mode in order to optimize the printer operation.
See Chapter 4, "Using Set-Up Mode," in the User Manual.
If you intend to connect your printer to both DIGITAL and PC environments at the same
time, follow the instructions in both of the next sections that follow.
Note:
For easier installation, first plug the serial interface cable when you intend to use
both serial and parallel interfaces.
Connecting the Printer to a DIGITAL Environment
In a DIGITAL environment, you only need to connect the printer to your host system and to
check if the serial communication is properly set.
