Function test before use

Function failure recognized too late!
To avoid the occurrence of any defects during surgery, perform a system
test before every surgical procedure (without patient)!
Impairment of proper functioning due to malfunction!
For safety reasons, do not use this device if a function fails.
Rectify the cause of the failure (see "What to do in the event of
malfunctions") or contact ZEISS Service or the authorized partner.
Function test of the surgical microscope
Before every use, check that all components and accessories which have
been installed are securely locked in place. Note the maximum working
load.
Check unobstructed movement of the surgical microscope:
 All cables and accessories have been installed in such a way that the
surgical microscope can be safely positioned without causing any
damage.
Checking eyepieces / binocular tube / objective lens:
 Check that the surgical microscope and the tube are in a position
convenient for you.
 The interocular distance (pupillary distance) has been correctly set
(please refer to Page 104).
 The eyecups have been adjusted to ensure that you can see the full
field of view (see Page 104).
 Verify that the correct prescription has been set on the diopter scale
(please refer to Page 104).
 Check that image quality is correct throughout the entire
magnification range.
 The objective lens and eyepieces are clean.
Check the function of the magnification changer.
Check the function of the filter selector knob.
