6.6 Static Route Overview
In a subnetted LAN environment the X6004 is typically connected to a router. The router
specifies the subnet to which the X6004 is directly connected and the X6004 has no
knowledge of the subnets beyond. For instance, the X6004 knows about the IP phones in
subnet N1 in the following figure. However, the X6004 is unable to route a packet to phones in
subnet N2 because it doesn't know that there is a route through Router 1 (R). Static routes tell
the X6004 about the subnets beyond the router its directly connected to.

6.6.1 Configuring Static Route
Use this screen to look at static routes in the X6004. Click Configuration > Network > Static
Route to open the Static Route screen.
