The clock detects the "low battery" threshold

battery appears as a fixed display for 5 days. After
this period, it flashes until the display disappears
completely (batteries have run out). Replace the
batteries. Resetting of the time and date is,
automatic for radio synchronised or Irig-B / AFNOR
clocks, manual for independent and receiver clocks.
Dust on the battery contact terminals (+ and -) can
disrupt the power supply to the clock. Clean these
contact terminals with a soft dry cloth, if necessary.
