Problem
If battery packs are not properly inserted and removed from the NetLink i640 Wireless
Telephones, possible damage (bending or breakage) may occur to the battery contacts
("prongs") on the handset. This damage may cause problems with the prongs making
good contact with the battery pack, resulting in intermittent or permanent power issues.
Description
Careful insertion and removal of the battery packs for the NetLink i640 Wireless
Telephones is important in preventing damage to the handset's contact prongs. If a
battery pack is inserted or removed sideways rather than straight inward or outward, the
prongs may catch on the battery pack causing them to bend or break. Damage to the
contacts may also occur if other objects (such as coins, keys, or paper clips) are used to
"pry out" the battery pack.
Resolution
Proper insertion of a battery pack:
To insert the battery pack, slide the battery pack straight into the handset cavity until it
snaps into place. You should not have to force it into the handset.
Proper removal of a battery pack:
To remove the battery pack, hold the handset in one hand with the keypad facing
upward and the battery pack facing downward towards the palm of your other hand (see
photo below). With one hand, press both battery release buttons on the left and right
sides of the handset to release the battery. The battery pack releases and it should
drop into your other hand. If it does not drop out of the handset, do not use other
objects to "pry out" the battery pack. Instead, give the handset a gentle shake to cause
the battery pack to drop out of the handset and into the palm of your hand.
