Testing The Barcode Scanner - Spectra Logic Spectra 10000 Install Manual

Caution - The Barcode Scanner uses a laser to read barcode labels. A laser is a source of
highly concentrated light energy, and can damage the eyes. Use extreme caution when
operating the library with the cover removed.
1) Place a tape with a Barcode label on it in the door of the library.
2) Using the touchscreen control, move the tape from the Door to Slot 1, or any available slot.
3) Observe as the tape is moved, then watch as the Barcode Scanner attempts to scan the tape.
Verify that the laser beam attempts to sweep across most of the tape cartridge.
4) The visible red scan line should start at the right hand side of the tape, and move counter
clockwise across the entire width of the label.
5) If the Barcode Scanner does not pass all the way across the label, call Spectra Logic Technical
Support at (800) 227-4637.
6) Remove the tape which was just loaded into the library (if desired) by reversing the loading
procedure.
7) Power down the library.
8) Remove the paper that was inserted into the lid sensor.
9) Replace the cover on the Spectra Logic Tape Library.
10) Replace the SCSI cables.
