Neverstore chippershredderwith fuelin tank indoorsor in poorly
ventilatedareaswherefuel fumesmay reachan open flame,spark,
or pilot lightas on a furnace,water heater,clothesdryer,or gas
appliance.
PREPARING THE ENGINE
Forenginesstoredover30 days:
1. To preventgumfrom formingin fuelsystemor on carburetor
parts,run engineuntil it stopsfrom lack offuel or add a gasoline
additiveto the gas in the tank. If you usea gas additive,run the
enginefor severalminutesto circulatethe additivethroughthe
carburetor--afterwhich theengine andfuel can be stored up to
six months.
2. Whileengine is still warm,changethe oil.
3. Removespark plugand pourapproximately 1 oz. (30 ml)of clean
engineoil intothe cylinder.Pull the recoilstarterseveraltimesto
distributethe oil, and reinstallthespark plug.
4. Cleanengineof surfacedebris.
PREPARING THE CHIPPER SHREDDER
,, Whenstoringthe chippershredderin an unventilated or metal
storageshed, careshouldbe takento rustproofthe non-painted
surfaces.Usinga lightoil or silicone,coat the equipment,
especiallyany springs,bearings,and cables.
,, Removeall dirt fromexteriorof engineand equipment.
,, Followlubricationrecommendations.
,, Storeequipmentin a clean,dry area.Do not storenext to
corrosivematerials,such as fertilizer.Do notstore in an area
whereequipmentis presentthat may usea pilot lightor hasa
componentthat cancreatea spark.
