Safe mode—Use the
fast mode, but more secure. In safe mode, the system saves the configuration in a temporary
file and starts overwriting the target next-startup configuration file after the save operation is
complete. If a reboot or power failure occurs during the save operation, the next-startup
configuration file is still retained. Use the safe mode if the power source is not reliable or you
are remotely configuring the router.
To save the running configuration:
Task
Save the running configuration to a configuration
file, without specifying the file as a next-startup
configuration file.
Save the running configuration to a configuration
file in the root directory of the active and standby
RSU storage medium, and specify the file as a
next-startup configuration file.

Rebooting the router or a module

CAUTION:
• If the main system software image file is damaged or does not exist, do not use the
command to reboot the router. Specify the main system software image file first, and then
reboot the router.
• The precision of the rebooting timer is 1 minute. 1 minute before the rebooting time, the router
prompts "REBOOT IN ONE MINUTE" and reboots in one minute.

Reboot the router at the CLI.
Reboot the router immediately by using the

Power off and then power on the router. This method cuts off the power of the router forcibly,
which might cause data loss and hardware damage. It is the least-preferred method.
