Section 3: Framing
Clearance Requirements
To ensure the fireplace operates safely, all models must maintain the
following clearances:

Distance from the edge of the finished materials to ensure removal
of glass is possible for future cleaning and service
**Type B-Vent pipe clearances must meet the B Vent manufacturer's
recommendation.
NOTICE
When constructing the framed opening, please ensure there is access
to install the gas line when the unit is installed.
Framing
Montigo recommends that framing is performed once the unit has been
placed in its final location.
STEP 1: Frame around the fireplace as desired. Framing can be installed on
all sides of the fireplace, or only on the top and sides if a thinner finishing
material will be used. Ensure access is left for connections of gas, electrical
and venting as required.
STEP 2: Complete all venting, gas, and electrical connections.
STEP 3: Backframe the unit with framing materials followed by finishing
materials as required. Ensure access for service as required.

Framing Flanges
There are flanges on the outer edges of the Prodigy series fireplace that
may be used to install framing around the fireplace. The use of these
flanges is entirely optional; they are provided to simplify installation,
and if they are not needed, they may be ignored or removed entirely.
Framing Flange Locations
The location of the framing flanges depends on the configuration of the unit
(corner, bay, single sided, see through). The below shows the location of
the flanges depending on configuration. See Montigo website for detailed
dimensional drawings.
SINGLE SIDED: Front face top, back of unit left, back of unit right
SEE THROUGH: Front face top, back face top, back of unit left, back of unit
right, front of unit left, front of unit right
BAY: Front face top, back of unit left, back of unit right
CORNER: Front face top, back of unit left, back of unit right
