1. Daily Inspection

Perform the following checks before and
after use.
Item
• Check the amount of fuel in the tank.
Fuel System • Check for debris in the fuel filters.
• Check the rubber hoses for fuel leakage.
• Check for crack, leakage, damage in the fuel tank cap.
Fuel Tank Cap • Check for crack, damage in the gasket and tether.
• Check for leakage at full close.
• Check that the stop switch functions normally and make sure
the lock plate is secured.
Electrical
Equipment
• Check cords for loose connections and damage.
• Check the spark plug for dirt, wear and carbon build-up.
• Check the choke plate and throttle valve to make sure carbu-
Throttle System
retor is functioning normally.
• Check the rope for wear and chafing.
Recoil Starter
• Check the ratchet engagement.
• Check that the clutch engages correctly when operation the
shift lever. (3.5B only)
Clutch and
Propeller Sys- • Visually check the propeller and shear pin for bent or damaged

blades.
• Check that the split pin is on the propeller.
• Check the clamp screws attaching the motor to the boat for

tightness.
Motor
• Check the thrust rod installation.
• After starting the outboard motor, make sure that water is

being discharged from the cooling water check port.
• Check that there are tools and spare parts for replacing spark

plugs, the propeller, etc.
Spares
• Check that you have the spare rope.
• Check if the anode is securely installed.
Other parts
• Check the anode for corrosion and deformation.
