Adjustment

6.7.1

Empty-pipe/full-pipe adjustment

Flow cannot be measured correctly unless the measuring pipe is completely full.
This status can be monitored at all times with the empty pipe detection function.
EPD = empty pipe detection (with the help of an EPD electrode)
Caution!
A detailed description and other helpful hints for the empty-pipe/full-pipe adjustment procedure
can be found in the separate "Description of Device Functions" manual:
• EPD ADJUSTMENT → Carrying out the adjustment
• EPD → Switching empty pipe detection on and off
• EPD RESPONSE TIME → Enter the response time for EPD
Note!
• The EPD function is not available unless the sensor is fitted with an EPD electrode.
• The devices are calibrated at the factory with water (approx. 500 µS/cm).
If the liquid conductivity differs from this reference, empty-pipe/full-pipe adjustment has to be
performed again on site.
• The default setting for EPD when the devices are delivered is OFF; the function has to be activated
if required.
6.7.2

Performing empty-pipe and full-pipe adjustment (EPD)

1.
Select the appropriate function in the function matrix:
HOME → F → R → PROCESS PARAMETER → F → R → EPD ADJUSTMENT
2.
Empty the piping. For EPD empty-pipe adjustment, the measuring pipe wall must still be
covered with fluid.
Start empty-pipe adjustment: Select "EMPTY PIPE ADJUST" and press F to confirm.
3.
4.
After empty-pipe adjustment, fill the piping with fluid.
Start full-pipe adjustment: Select "FULL PIPE ADJUST" and press F to confirm.
5.
6.
Having completed the adjustment, select the setting "OFF" and exit the function by
pressing F.
7.
Now switch on empty pipe detection in the EPD function.
"
Caution!
The adjustment coefficients must be valid before you can activate the EPD function. If
adjustment is incorrect the following messages might appear on the display:
– "FULL = EMPTY" → The adjustment values for empty pipe and full pipe are identical. In
cases of this nature you must repeat empty-pipe or full-pipe adjustment!
– "ADJUSTMENT NOT OK" → Adjustment is not possible because the fluid's conductivity
values are out of range.

Data memory (HistoROM)

At Endress+Hauser, the term HistoROM refers to various types of data memory modules on which
process and measuring device data are stored.
6.8.1

HistoROM/S-DAT (sensor-DAT)

The S-DAT is an exchangeable data memory in which all sensor relevant parameters are stored, i.e.,
diameter, serial number, calibration factor, zero point.
