To minimize turbulence on the surface of the transducers, a white styro-
foam plug material has been provided which fits into the transducer mount-
ing holes. Cut the styrofoam to length so that, when installed, each plug is
recessed 5 mm (3/16"to 5/16") belowthe surface ofthe housing. Push these
Styrofoam plugs into the holes and smooth out the surface using caulking.
Remove excess caulking to ensure smooth water flow over the transducer.
3 Finishing Details
Slide the rubber compression bushing, compression washers, and the
packing nut down the transducer cable to the stuffing tube (see the figure
above for orientation). Make sure the rubber compression bushmg fits
securely into the upper part of the stuffing tube. Tighten the packmg nut.
Do not apply a force exceeding 3 ft./lbs.(4 newton-meters).
Route the transducer cable to the echo sounder, being careful not to tear
the outer jacket when routing the cable. To reduce electrical interference,
keep the transducer cable separated from other electrical wiring. Secure
the transducer cable in place. To prevent damage, use tywraps or lacing
twine. Refer to page 29 for making the wire connections to the plug.

IMPORTANT--Please read these di-
rections completely before proceeding
with the transducer installation.
Do not use a bronze transducer

housing in an aluminum hull
because electrolytic corrosion
will occur.
If you have a cored hull, Cored

Hull installation instructions are
available from your Raytheon
dealer.
25A.l Locating the 2528B
The basic rules for locating the 2528B transducer will be the same as those
already discussed for the 2528L. See section 2.52 (page 21). However, due
to the long stem, it is very important that the mounting location have
