Recommended System Engineer Requirements

An SE (System Engineer)
solutions and networked devices, and should have the following basic job
functions:
Systems Integration (pre-sales, professional services and post-sales)
Technical Education
Advanced Troubleshooting
To perform the above tasks successfully, it is crucial that the SE have strong
software solutions, IT infrastructure and working knowledge in the following
areas:
1. Major computer platforms (PC and Mac based)
2. Operating systems:
- Windows
- Mac OS
- Linux
3. Protocols/Services:
- TCP/IP
- SMTP/SMB/FTP
- SNMP
- TLS/IPSEC
- Active Directory
4. Printing
- Print Driver (PCL, PS, UFR)
- Print processor
- Print spooler
- Print queue
5. Scanning
It is also important that the SE have computer skills and working knowledge in
Remote Support Tools – (WebEx, TeamViewer, Windows RDC)
The Education/Training of a successful Canon dealership's SE include:
1. CompTIA A+/Network +/Security +
2. Microsoft Certified
3. Two years of experience as a Computer Technician, Network Administrator
or related software support position.
4. A degree in Computer Science or Networking Technology or two years of
extensive experience in the above areas.

tasks, such as analysis, design, and programming. System Engineers are also often involved in pre-sales activities.
