Laser safety

WARNING
The maximum permitted power for the OLA-54/-55/-55M
means that the optical input signals can reach Hazard
Level 3B, depending on the device type.
Bear this in mind when using the OLA-54/-55/-55M.
!
Always be aware of the hazard level of the device to
be connected.
!
Fiber optic systems assigned to a specific laser safety
class or to a specific hazard level must not be
reassigned to a lower laser safety class or a lower
hazard level as a result of the attenuation of the
OLA-54/-55/-55M.
!
Connect all optical fibers before switching on the
radiation source.
!
Switch off the laser source before disconnecting the
optical fibers.
!
The attenuation of the OLA-54/-55 does not depend
on whether the device is switched on or off.
!
The attenuation of the OLA-55M is undefined if the
device is switched off.
!
Never look directly into the output of a laser source or
into an optical fiber connected to it.
!
Always cover unused ports.
!
Heed the normal precautions for working with laser
radiation and consider local regulations.
