ENGINE OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT
1. Clean the area around the oil filter bracket (Figure 87).

2. Using a filter wrench, remove all engine oil filters
(Figure 87).
3. Clean the mating surface of the oil filter bracket. Make
sure that no pieces of old oil seal are left behind.
Carefully clean around the inside of the protective rim
on the oil filter bracket.
4. Coat the rubber seal (gasket) surface of the new oil
filters with clean 15W-40 engine oil (Figure 87).
5. Install the new oil filters first by hand until they make
contact with the filter head surface. Tighten another
3/4 turn using a filter wrench.

6. Fill the engine crankcase with high-quality detergent
oil classified "For Service CI-4." Fill to the upper limit
of the dipstick. DO NOT overfill. Refer to Table 2 for
engine oil capacity.
7. Run the engine for several minutes. Watch for oil
leakage. Shut the engine down and allow it to sit for
several minutes. Top off the oil to the upper limit on
the dipstick.
DRAINING ENGINE COOLANT
WARNING
DO NOT remove the pressure caps from the radiator
while the engine is hot! Wait until the coolant
temperature is below 120°F (50°C) before removing
the pressure caps.
Heated coolant spray or steam can cause severe
scalding and personal injury.
1. Remove the radiator pressure cap (Figure 88)
and both expansion tank caps only if the coolant
temperature is below 120°F (50°C).
