Battery Switch
Located in the engine compartment, the Battery switch
(Figure 48) connects and disconnects the battery. Place
the switch in the ON position prior to starting the generator.
When the generator is not in use, place the switch in the
OFF position.
NOTICE
NEVER set the Battery switch to the OFF position while
the engine is running. The engine may not be able to
be stopped by normal operation, and damage to the
equipment may result.

ALTERNATOR
The polarity of the alternator is negative grounding type.
When an inverted circuit connection takes place, the
circuit will be in short circuit instantaneously, resulting in
alternator failure.
NOTICE
DO NOT put water directly on the alternator. Entry
of water into the alternator can cause corrosion and
damage to the alternator.

INSPECTION/SETUP
WIRING
Inspect the entire generator for bad or worn electrical wiring
or connections. If any wiring or connections are exposed
(insulation missing) replace the wiring immediately.
PIPING AND HOSE CONNECTIONS
Inspect all piping, oil hose, and fuel hose connections for
wear and tightness. Tighten all hose clamps and check
hoses for leaks.
If any fuel or oil hose lines are defective, replace them
immediately.
