5.1.5 ROTARY MOTOR TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
1.
Check the fasteners. One loose bolt could cause the amps to rise and result in damage to
the vibrator if proper overload protection is not utilized.
2.
If attached directly to a plate, i.e. equipment, this mounting plate must be thick enough for
the force and frequency of the vibrator. Recommendations are available upon request.
3.
If attached to a mounting surface via a mounting channel, i.e. hopper wall, this
surface must be thick enough to withstand the force and frequency of the vibrator.
Recommendations are available upon request.
4.
Check the voltage. The incoming power must match the nameplate voltage. If it is dual
voltage vibrator, verify that the terminal strips and properly positioned for your incoming
power. There is a sticker provided on the terminal box cover, which specifies the correct
positions of the terminal strips for 230 or 460-volt operation.
5.
Verify that the eccentric weights are set identically on both ends of the vibrator. If two
vibrators are to operate together i.e. equipment, the eccentric weights on both ends of
both vibrators must be set identically and the rotation of the weights must be counter to
each other to produce a smooth, linear vibration force.
6.
Check the bearings. Refer to your installation, operating and maintenance instructions to
determine if your vibrator has bearing that require re-greasing.
7.
If used on a piece of equipment, the "g" (Acceleration) must not exceed the following
values. The "g" is calculated by taking the total force output of the vibrator(s) in pounds
divided by the total vibrator weight in pounds (supported by isolation mounts) The
vibrating weight should include the weight of the equipment, the vibrator(s) and the load.
2 Pole, 3600 RPM: 15 "g"
4 Pole, 1800 RPM: 12 "g"
6 Pole, 1200 RPM: 10 "g"
8 Pole, 900 RPM:
26
9 "g"
