Water flow meter interface: A connector is provided to connect an external water flow meter
(customer supplied) to monitor the flow rate of the cooling water; this can also be used to switch the
interlock to disable the laser.
•
RS232 command set and StarLab software package: A full set of RS232 user commands are
provided to control and monitor the IPM sensor. Additionally, Ophir's StarLab PC Application provides
support for the IPM sensor via RS232 control. See below for more details.
•
Industrial Protocol Registers: A fully documented set of binary registers offering control commands
(write mode) and monitoring (read mode) is provided with the IPM-COM unit. See below for more
details.
3.2 Application options (all combinations of the options below are possible)
3.2.1
Basic application
•
In this application the IPM sensor is connected via the (supplied) RS232 cable to an RS232 host
such as a PC or a PLC.
•
24V power is supplied via a separate M12 power connector
•
Alternatively, power can be supplied via the RS232 connector itself (which has dedicated pins for
power) using a custom-built cable (not supplied). See below for more details.

Shutter module IPM-SHUTTER10.
The shutter module is sold separately and has several features:

Remote controlled shutter with dust tight rubber seal
•
Anti-reflective coated protective window
•
Scatter shield for reduced back scatter
