SAFETY MEASURES

  • When using electrical appliances, observe the following safety measures:
  • Read the instructions carefully.
  • Use the unit only for its intended purposes, as specified in this manual. Improper usage of the unit can lead to its damage or do harm to the user or his property.
  • Before switching on the unit, make sure that the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage specified on the housing of the unit.
  • The power cord is equipped with a "euro plug"; insert it into the socket with a secure grounding.
  • Place the unit on the flat stable heat-resistant surface in a way that the access to the power socket is easy.
  • Use the unit in places with proper ventilation. To avoid fire do not place the unit near the curtains or draperies, do not cover it during the operation.
  • Do not use the unit outdoors.
  • Never use the unit in places where inflammable substances are used or kept.
  • Do not use the unit near gas-stoves or heaters; do not place the unit on heated surfaces.
  • Provide that the power cord does not hang over the table, contact heated surfaces or sharp edges.
  • Do not twist the power cord and do not wind it over the housing of the unit.
  • When disconnecting the plug do not pull the cord, hold the plug with your hand.
  • Do not touch the power plug with wet hands.
  • Do not use the unit near the kitchen sink; do not subject it to moisture.
  • In order to avoid risk of electric shock do not immerse the power cord, the power plug or the unit into water or other liquids. If it happens, DO NOT TOUCH the unit, unplug it immediately and apply to the authorized service center for checking.
  • Periodically check the integrity of the power cord.
  • Do not use the unit if the power cord or the power plug is damaged, in case of malfunction, and if the unit fell down. Do not try to repair the unit yourself. For repair apply to the authorized service center.
  • Be careful: during the operation the housing of the unit heats up, do not touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not move the unit until it cools down completely.
  • In order to avoid fire, do not put very thick slices of bread into the sandwich maker and do not wrap them into foil.
    ATTENTION!
    Take the sandwiches out of the unit immediately after cooking, long keeping of sandwiches in the unit can cause fire.
  • Never take the products out of the sandwich maker using sharp objects, it can damage non-stick coating.
  • Do not allow children to use the unit as a toy.
  • Close supervision is necessary when the unit is used by children or disabled persons.
  • This unit is not intended for usage by children or disabled persons unless they are given all the necessary instructions on safety measures and information about danger, which can be caused by improper usage of the unit.
  • Never leave the operating unit unattended.
  • Unplug the unit when you do not use it and before cleaning.
  • Make sure that the unit has cooled down completely before cleaning.
  • Use soft non-abrasive cleaners, which are put on a sponge or on a soft cloth to clean the unit.
  • Use the unit for household purposes only.
  • Keep these instructions.

Operating the unit

  • Before switching on the unit, make sure that the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage specified on the housing of the unit.
  • Wipe the non-stick coating of the operating plates (5) with a wet sponge or cloth, then wipe dry.
  • Before using the unit for the first time, pour a little vegetable oil on the non-stick coating of the plates (5) and spread it over the whole surface, wipe off excessive oil with a paper towel, close the unit and insert the plug into the socket for 5-10 minutes, then unplug the unit.

Note: When using the unit for the first time the heating elements burn, some smoke and specific odor can appear – it is normal.

Useful recommendations

  • For the best results, use medium slices of bread. Cooking time depends on the thickness of slices and sort of bread.
  • You can use brown bread as well as white bread.
  • Cut bread into slices, which correspond in size to the inner surface of the unit.
  • Use vegetable oil or ordinary margarine to oil slices, other fats burn.
  • Do not put too much filling otherwise it will leak.
  • Do not use filling from vegetables which wilt under temperature (lettuce, cucumber). Usage of tomatoes and onions gives good results.

Making sandwiches

  • Insert the plug into the socket – the light indicators (1) and (2) will light up.
  • The operating plates (5) will heat up, when the temperature of the plates reaches the preset one; the indicator (2) will go out.
  • Open the unit, put a slice of bread with the oiled side on the lower operating plate (5), put filling on it, cover with the second slice of bread, close the unit, carefully pressing the handles together, close the clamp (4).
  • After some time the indicator (2) will light up and the cooking of sandwiches will start. When the preset temperature is reached the indicator (2) will go out.
  • Depending on your taste, cook sandwiches from 3 till 6 minutes.

Attention:

  • the indicator (2) does not mean that the sandwiches are ready, but informs about the operation of the heating element.

Cleaning and care

  • Unplug the unit.
  • Let the unit cool down completely, we recommend opening the upper lid.
  • Remove crumbs; wipe the inner non-stick coating with a wet cloth, using a soft detergent, and wipe dry.
  • Do not use abrasive substances and metal puffs, as you can damage inner non-stick coating or outer surfaces of the unit.
  • Never immerse the unit into water!

Storage

  • Clean the unit before taking the unit for storage.
  • Wind the power cord.
  • Keep the unit vertically in a dry cool place out of reach of children.

Recipes

Cheese and ham sandwich

For 2 pcs.:

  • 4 slices of brown or white bread, oiled
  • 2 thick slices of cheese
  • 2 slices of ham.

When the indicator (2) goes out, put two slices of bread (oiled side down) on the inner surface.

Put a slice of cheese and a slice of ham on each slice of the bread, cover with the remaining slices of bread, close the unit, cooking time is approximately 3 1/2 minutes. Serve hot.

Instant breakfast sandwich

For 2 pcs.:

  • 4 slices of brown or white bread
  • 1 tomato (cut)
  • 2 slices of bacon.

When the indicator (2) goes out, put two slices of bread (oiled side down) on the inner surface.

Put a slice of bread, slices of tomato, a slice of bacon on each slice of bread, cover with the remaining slices of bread (oiled side up), close the unit, cooking time is approximately 5 minutes. Serve hot.

Bean and bacon sandwich

For 2 pcs.:

  • 4 slices of brown or white bread, oiled
  • 2 slices of bacon
  • 230 g of beans in tomato sauce.

Mix the sliced bacon with the beans and small amount of mustard (to taste). Put two slices of bread (oiled side down) on the inner surface, put the mixture on each slice of bread, cover with the remaining slices of bread (oiled side up), close the unit, cooking time is approximately 4 1/2 minutes. Serve hot.

Welsh cheese sandwich

For 2 pcs.:

  • 4 slices of brown or white bread, oiled
  • 75 g of grated cheese
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard
  • salt
  • black pepper

Mix cheese with mustard, add salt and pepper to taste. Put two slices of bread (oiled side down) on the inner surface, put the mixture on each slice of bread, cover with the remaining slices of bread (oiled side up), close the unit, cooking time is approximately 3 1/2 minutes. Serve hot.

Banana sandwich

For 2 pcs.:

  • 4 slices of brown or white bread, oiled
  • 1/2 sliced banana
  • chocolate bar

Put two slices of bread (oiled side down) on the inner surface, put 2 pieces of chocolate, sliced banana, cover with the remaining slices of bread (oiled side up), close the unit, cooking time is approximately 3 1/2 minutes. Serve hot.

Note:

  • Do not use metal spatulas and knives to take out the sandwiches, as it can damage the non-stick coating. Use only plastic or wooden accessories.
