b) When w heel is binding, or w hen interrupting a cut for any reason, release the
trigger and hold the saw motionless in the material until the w heel comes to
a complete stop.
Never attempt to remove the saw from the w ork or pull the saw backw ard
w hile the w heel is in motion or kickback may occur.
Investigate and take corrective actions to elim inate the cause of w heel binding.
c) When restarting a saw in the w orkpiece, centre the w heel in the kerf and
check that w heel segments are not engaged into the material.
If w heel is binding, it m ay w alk up or kickback from the w orkpiece as the saw is restarted.
d) Support large panels to minimize the risk of w heel pinching and kickback.
Large panels tend to sag under their ow n w eight.
Supports m ust be placed under the panel on both sides, near the line of cut and near
the edge of the panel.
e) Do not use dull or damaged w heels.
Unsharpened or im properly set w heels produce narrow kerf causing excessive friction,
w heel binding and kickback.
f) Wheel depth adjusting locking levers must be tight and secure before making
cut.
If w heel adjustm ent shifts w hile cutting, it m ay cause binding and kickback.

DOUBLE INSULATION FOR SAFER OPERATION

To ensure safer operation of this pow er tool, HITACHI has adopted a double insulation
design. " Double insulation " m eans that tw o physically separated insulation system s have
been used to insulate the electrically conductive m aterials connected to the pow er supply
from the outer fram e handled by the operator. Either the sym bol "
insulation" appear on the pow er tool or on the nam eplate.
Although this system has no external grounding, you m ust still follow the norm al electrical
safety precautions given in this Instruction M anual, including not using the pow er tool in
w et environm ents.
To keep the double insulation system effective, follow these precautions:
Only HITACHI AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER should disassem ble or assem ble this
pow er tool, and only genuine HITACHI replacem ent parts should be installed.
Clean the exterior of the pow er tool only w ith a soft cloth m oistened w ith soapy w ater,
and dry thoroughly.
Never use solvents, gasoline or thinners on plastic com ponents; otherw ise the plastic
m ay dissolve.
