Section 9 Troubleshooting
9.1 Conductivity sensor
Refer to the Polymetron 8315 sensor documentation for descriptions of the sensor alarm and
warning messages that show on the controller display.
9.2 Temperature controller
When an alarm occurs on the temperature controller, push

The instrument does not accept
temperature settings.
Sample heater is not heating.
Unit is heating but cannot get to
the boiling point.

Possible cause
There is no sample flow or the
sample flow is less than
100 mL/minute.
The settings are corrupted.
The fuse is blown.
The heater is defective.
The flow rate is too high.

Solution
The instrument removes power
to the heater until the heater
temperature decreases to
below the alarm setpoint. Then,
heating starts again. Refer to
Set the temperature alarm

on page 20.
Turn the sample flow valve to
set the flow rate of the sample
water to between 100 to
150 mL/min. Refer to
on page 7.
If the settings are corrupted,
send the temperature controller
back to the factory. Refer to
Replace the temperature
controller
on page 26.
1. Examine the continuity of
the fuses. Refer to
a fuse
on page 25 if blown.
2. If the fuses continue to
blow, the heater likely has a
short and must be replaced.
Contact technical support to
replace the heater.
