8.4 Replace the resin beads
Replace the resin beads when the resin beads nearest to the color indicator label on the resin
column are brown/orange.
1. Remove power and stop the flow of sample and cooling water to the instrument. Refer to
Shutdown on page 23.
2. Replace the resin beads. Refer to the illustrated steps that follow.
a. At illustrated step 3, examine the O-rings and porous discs on the resin column. Replace the
resin column if the O-rings or porous discs have damage.
b. At illustrated step 5, clean the resin column with deionized water.
c. At illustrated step 7, add the new resin beads until 1/4-inch from the top of the resin column.
Then, put on the top cap and shake the resin column. Add resin beads again until 1/4-inch
from the top. Do not fill to the top.
d. At illustrated step 7, remove the resin beads from the sealing surfaces and threads before the
top cap is installed.
