Probable Cause
Feeding work in the wrong direction.
Fence misalignment.
Side pressure not uniform.
Cutting too deep on one pass.

Working against the grain.
Cutting too deep on one pass.
Sawdust or dirt in raising mechanism.
Remedy
Always feed work against the rotation of
the cutterhead.
Align outfeed fence.
Use hold-downs; keep constant
pressure against fence.
On hardwoods take light cuts; attain full
depth with several passes.
Feed work slowly and steadily.
Keep pressure firm throughout pass.
Use hold-downs. Make pass slowly
and steadily. Keep work under cutter
whenever possible.
Use faster speed.
Slow feed speed.
Work with the grain whenever possible.
Take several passes on very deep cuts.
Brush or blow out dirt and saw dust.
