The next step is to mark the lesion using an MR-compatible
localization wire.

◾ Checking the position of the core needle device (control scan)

✓ The offset data are documented in the worksheet.
1 Set the offset data (X/Y value and, if necessary, the angle) at the
positioning unit.
2 To set the angle, loosen the set screw for angulating the needle/
marker holder so that the point marker is located on top.
3 Always read the values of the horizontal scale laterally from the
guide arm. For this purpose, always use the values shown on the
side of the marker or subsequently on the side of the needle
holder.
 CAUTION
Setting error/needle guide does not point to the lesion!
Lesion is missed, incorrect diagnosis
◆ To check the location of the future biopsy channel, perform
a control scan prior to the puncture.
4 Ensure that the location of the marker corresponds to the
subsequent biopsy channel and if necessary, correct the setting of
the offset data.
1 Move the patient table out of the magnet.
2 Remove the marker from the holder for the positioning unit.
3 Select a needle guide which corresponds to the thickness of the
core needle device.
