Additional Notes
The analyzer shared data directory is in the LGR workgroup. If it is not visible, browse for it
in the Windows Network Neighborhood by entering the IP address of the analyzer. Figure
35 shows the location of the IP address.
The current data file of the analyzer can be opened while measurement is in progress
without interrupting the analyzer operation. The current data file is updated after every
fourth KB, so a new data file will appear empty until enough data is collected to be written
to the disk.
If a Local Area Network (LAN) is not available, plug the analyzer into a standalone
broadband router (example: Netgear Model RP614) to enable the analyzer to obtain a
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) address from the router when the analyzer is
started. Then, plug any Windows computer into the same broadband router to access the
data directory.
A crossover Ethernet cable will NOT allow an external computer to access the shared data
directory, as the analyzer will not obtain a DHCP address on initialization and will shut
down its Ethernet interface.
It is possible to access the shared analyzer data directory from operating systems other
than Windows. The analyzer uses a Samba server to share the data directory, which could
be accessed by any appropriate Samba client application.
