Installing the Emergency Line

The Emergency Line provides a connection to a PSTN line when there is no power. When there is
a power failure, the Emergency Line Adapter connects the Norstar trunk line used for port number
4 to the PSTN line that is connected to the other side of the Emergency Line Adapter.
In most installations, the Emergency Line is not required. Normally, PSTN lines are already
available on the Norstar system and can be used when the VoIP Gateway is not functioning. As
well, you can configure the Norstar system to have an Emergency Telephone that can be used
when the Norstar system is not functioning or there is a power failure.
To install the Emergency Line:
1
Connect the Emergency Line Adapter to port number 4.
2
Connect a Norstar analog trunk line to Port A on the Emergency Line Adapter.
3
Connect an analog PSTN line to Port B on the Emergency Line Adapter.
