Tomcat Server

Running Tomcat

Tomcat can be run either as service, or in command line mode.
Tomcat is typically installed as a service by the installation kit. However
under certain circumstances it may not be appropriate to do so, for example,
when the Archive web application requires access to the archive file share –
it may not be possible to give the appropriate permissions to the account
running the Tomcat service to access this share. Hence it would be necessary
to run Tomcat in command line mode.
The Tomcat service is called eyreteltomcat and can be found in the
Windows Services Control Manager. If it is not listed, Tomcat has not been
installed.
Installing Tomcat as a service
Tomcat can be installed as a service by executing the following command
line:
eyretel.home/tomcat/bin/InstallSvc.bat java.home
eyretel.home/tomcat server eyretel.home
where
eyretel.home
java.home
Tomcat will now be installed. The service can be stopped and started via the
Windows Service Control Manager.
Starting Tomcat using the command line
In the unlikely event that it is necessary to run Tomcat from the command
line, you should first ensure that the eyreteltomcat service has been stopped.
Do this using the Windows Service Control Manager. Once the service is
stopped, you can start Tomcat in the command line mode by executing the
following command line:
78
is substituted for the eyretel root directory and
is substituted for the JDK root directory.
