If the battery has been disconnect-
ed, the vehicle may exhibit some
unusal driving characteristics for
approximately 8 km after battery
reconnection.
This is due to the automatic
relearning of the engine man-
agement system and should be
ignored.
Procedure when starting the
engine with jump leads
Connect batteries with only the
same nominal voltage (12 volts).
Use jump leads with insulated
clamps and suitable cable. Do not
disconnect the battery from the
vehicle's electrical system.
Suitable jump leads can be obtained
from your Authorised Dealer.
To connect the leads
• Position the vehicles so that they
do not touch one another.
• Switch off the engine and any
unnecessary electrical equip-
ment.
• Connect the positive (+) terminal
of the flat battery to the positive
(+) terminal of the booster bat-
tery (lead 1).
• Connect one end of the second
lead to the negative (-) terminal
of the booster battery and the
other end as far away from the
battery as possible to the engine
block or the engine mounting of
the vehicle to be started (lead 2).
