Installing a redundant power supply in a 5500 Series switch

This procedure describes the steps to install a redundant power supply.
This procedures applies only to 5500 Series switches.
Prerequisites
Before you install and use the redundant power supply, ensure the
area housing the RPS 15 chassis meets the following environmental
requirements:
Ambient temperature between 0 and 40 C (32 and 104 F)
Relative humidity between 5% and 85% noncondensing
No nearby heat sources such as hot air vents or direct sunlight
No nearby sources of severe electromagnetic noise
No excessive dust
Adequate power source within 6 feet (1.83 m); one 15-Amp circuit
required for each power supply
At least 2 inches (5.08 cm) on each side of the chassis for ventilation
Adequate space at the front and rear of the chassis for access to
cables

Insert the male end of the power cord in a standard 110/220 V
AC power outlet.
CAUTION
Ensure you use an appropriately rated AC power
cord only. Do not use an extension cord.
Action
If you are installing the first RPS 15 module into the empty center
chassis slot, proceed to step 2. Otherwise, remove one of the
blank panels on the front of the chassis.
Insert an RPS 15 power supply module into the empty slot.
