Cabling a standalone switch

This procedure describes the steps used to cable a standalone switch.
Prerequisites
The following table lists the required cables for a Nortel Ethernet
Routing Switch 5500 Series and their specifications.

Green / steady
The port has a link established.
Off
The port does not have a link established.
Green / steady
This link is operating normally.
Green / blinking
There is activity on the port.
Green / slow
The port has been disabled by the software.
blinking
Off
Indicates that the link has been lost.
Description
Link established.
Transmit activity detected.
Receive activity detected.
Transmit activity enabled.
Fiber connected with signal present.
XFP has been installed. Laser Transmitter OFF or XFP
in Reset.
XFP has been installed. No Signal Detected or XFP in
Reset.
No XFP installed.
