It is also possible to use only some of the Units in the Controller Link Net-
work in duplex operation. In this case, up to a total of 62 active and standby
Controller Link Units and Controller Link Units that are not used in duplex
operation can be connected. The Units that are not used in duplex opera-
tion can include both existing Units (CS1W-CLK12, CS1W-CLK52, CVM1-
CLK12, or CVM1-CLK52) and duplex-compatible Units.
Controller Link Units are not used in
duplex operation.
(CPU Unit does not have to be CS1D.)
2. Up to 3 pairs (i.e., 6 Units) of Duplex Controller Link Units can be mounted
to one CS1D PLC. The following table gives the maximum number of
mountable Units for different Unit combinations.

The numbers in parentheses indicate the Pre-Ver. 1.2 models.
1. Mount the two Controller Link Units to be used in duplex operation to the
CS1D System.
Note As long as the two Units are mounted to the same CS1D PLC, they
can be mounted in non-adjacent slots or on different Racks. When
using a connecting cable (CS1D-CN051) between the Units, how-
ever, the cable length is 50 cm and so mount the Units in adjacent
slots.
2. Set the same unit number and node address for the two Units.
Note If the same unit number and node address are not set for the Units,
it will not be possible to create I/O tables.
3. Set the unit number of the two Units in PLC Settings - Duplex Settings in
the CX-Programmer (Ver. 3.0 or later).
If the unit number is 0, click the checkbox next to Communication Unit 0
(indicated by the arrow).
