Error Detection Program Example

Setting the Data Link Status Storage Format
After you have confirmed that the data link function is operating normally,
check to see whether or not the data link is operating as intended, i.e., check
to see if the desired bits/words data is being transferred to the intended words
at other nodes.
Although the data link function itself may be operating correctly, the data link
areas may have been input incorrectly.
Change the contents of a bit or word in a data link send area using a Program-
ming Device or the user program and check whether the change is reflected in
data link areas of other nodes as intended.
Do not restart the polling node of the Controller Link Network while data links
are active. Otherwise, the data links may stop.
The data link status storage method can be set to either 8-bit format or 4-bit
format. The same data link status storage format is used by all nodes partici-
pating in the data link, according to the setting of the data link startup node.
• The words used for the data link status and the information shown in the
status area are determined by the data link status storage format setting
(refer to page 117).
• When 8-bit format is set, 31 words are allocated for data link status, and in
4-bit format, 16 words are allocated. When the default setting is used as
the data link status storage destination, however, the allocation for data
link status is always 16 words, regardless of the data link status storage
format specification. Therefore, even when 8-bit format is specified, the
actual data link status shown will be for node addresses 1 to 32 only.
The data link status storage format specification is made using the software
switch in bit 7 of the DM parameters area.
The address of the software switch is as follows:
• CS-series Optical Ring Controller Link Units: DM 30000 + 100 × unit num-
ber
• CVM1 and CV-series Optical Ring Controller Link Units: DM 2000 + 100 ×
unit number

• The data link status storage format for optical models (model numbers
with the suffix CLK11) is fixed to 8-bit format, so it cannot be set. If Optical
Ring Controller Link Units or Optical Bus Controller Link Units will be used
in the network, always set the data link status storage format to 0. The
nodes that can participate in the data link are limited to nodes with node
addresses 1 to 32, and the data link status is always 16 words.
• The data link status is enabled only when the local node is participating
normally in the data links. Make sure that the Local Node Data Link Par-
ticipation Flag is ON before checking the data link status.
