Use the following information to properly connect the lift to the track in the four configurations.
1.
Standard Connection – Open the latch on the lift's carabiner. Insert the carabiner
through the eyelet of the trolley. Ensure the carabiner closes fully to lock the lift onto
the trolley.
2.
Reacher Arm Connection – Refer to the Reacher Arm User Guide for proper
installation.
3.
Lanyard Connection - Open the latch on the Lanyard's carabiner. Insert the carabiner
through the eyelet of the trolley. Ensure the carabiner closes fully to lock the Lanyard
onto the trolley. Open the latch on the Lift's carabiner. Insert the Lift's carabiner
through the Lanyard's carabiner. Ensure the carabiner closes fully to lock the lift onto
the trolley.
4.
Lanyard and Reacher Arm Connection – Open the latch on the Lanyard's carabiner.
Insert the carabiner through the eyelet of the trolley. Ensure the carabiner closes fully
to lock the Lanyard onto the trolley. Refer to the Reacher Arm User Guide for proper
installation of the Reacher Arm onto the Lanyard.

Move the Lift on the Track

The lift is normally parked at the end of the track when not in use. Since the AP-450 lift is a
manual ceiling lift, you must move the lift along the track to a position directly above the person
to be lifted. See Figure 8 for the various connection types.
Manual Traversing Lift
1.
Lower the lift to a comfortable height so you can hold it easily.
2.
Grab hold of the lift and move it along the track by gently pushing the lift or the individual
in the sling.
Never drag the lift along the track by pulling with the Hand Control.
Avoid any obstructions that may cause injury to the individual in the sling or
damage to the lift.

Transfer an Individual

The following steps are intended to generally illustrate the procedure of
using the lift to transfer an individual from one location to another.
Configurations vary by installation. Prior to attempting these steps, review
the instructions for the sling and additional accessories you are using with
the lift.
Contact your local Handicare dealer or your local Handicare business
development manager if you have any questions or concerns.
To transfer an individual using the lift,
1.
Complete the "Each Use" inspection on page 17 of the General Inspection and Preventive
Maintenance instructions.
2.
Move the lift close to the individual to be transferred.
3.
Follow the procedures for up and down and moving along the track as described in "Raise
or Lower the Lift" on page 10 and "Move the Lift on the Track" on page 11.
Avoid any obstructions that may cause injury to the individual in the sling
or damage to the lift.
4.
Prepare the individual being transferred with the appropriate sling.
Refer to the instructions supplied with the sling.
