Polygon Assembly
CAUTION S
• Do not touch the printed circuit patterns or ICs on PC boards.
• After the top cover is removed from the scanning optics unit, exercise care so that it
does not collect dust.
• When performing any servicing procedure with the top cover removed, wear a mask so
that saliva does not come into contact with the hardware.
• Do not shock the scanning optics unit.
• Since static electricity may damage the LD, do not uncover the LD assembly.
• Never touch the optical lenses or mirrors.
• When servicing an LD board, be sure to wear a wristband to ground your body. If you
do not ground your body, the buildup of static electricity on your body may damage
electronic components on the board.
I Removal procedure
CAUTION S
• Do not drop the polygon assembly or bump it against anything. If it is shocked, its
rotation axis is displaced beyond use.
• Never touch the mirror surface of the polygon assembly. (Even when you wear gloves,
do not touch the mirror surface.) Touching the polygon mirror surface makes the
polygon assembly useless.
(1) Pull out the scanner unit.

(2) Remove the scanning optics unit.

(3) Remove the polygon driver.
