Keyboard dialing

Purpose

This document includes instruction on the following types of keyboard
dialing:
Meridian Asynchronous Data Option (MADO) Keyboard Dialing
(KBD)
Extended Hayes Keyboard Dialing.

Operation

Perform the following to prepare for operation:
Turn the terminal power on.
Set the terminal on–line.
Select the desired data rate.
Two types of keyboard dialing are possible: Meridian Asynchronous
Data Option (MADO) Keyboard Dialing (KBD) and Extended Hayes
Keyboard Dialing. The type of keyboard dialing is determined by the
characters used to set autobaud and autoparity. At the terminal
keyboard, perform the following applicable action:
to initiate MADO KBD, type a period (.) followed by a carriage return.
to initiate Hayes Keyboard Dialing, type AT followed by a carriage
return.

MADO KBD

Successful KBD initiation is indicated by a menu display on the terminal
screen. A selection can be made from the menu, and a connection can
be established, after responding to any prompts. Distinct prompts are
provided at each stage of the call setup to enable the user to take
proper action.
