INSTALLATION - PT HARDWARE LINKS AND WING LOCK

Adding a Link to PT Hardware.
Note: The provided extra 2", 3", or 4" link may be used to reach extreme positions. Taper inserts may be oriented so screws face
either left or right.
1
Remove the screw (A) and the safety
washer (B) from the taper insert (C).
Separate the link (D) and the ball link (E).
2
Align the new link (F) with the link (D).
3
Place the existing taper insert (C) halves
(countersunk side first) in the end of link
(D). Make sure the square ends are aligned
inside for a low-profile fit in the joint. The
countersunk side of all taper inserts (C)
should face the same direction on the
hardware so that the screws (A) are all on
the same side.
4
Insert the screw (A) and the safety washer (B) into the countersunk side of the taper insert (C) and tighten. Firmly hold
the threaded side of the taper insert (C) while tightening.
5
Align the new link (F) joint with the ball link (E).
6
Place the new taper insert (G) halves (countersunk side first) in the end of the ball link (E). Make sure the square ends are
aligned inside for a low-profile fit in the joint.
7
Insert the screw (H) and the safety washer (J) into countersunk side of the taper insert (G) and tighten. Firmly hold the
threaded side of the taper insert while tightening.
Tool-less Wing Lock (PT Hardware)
Note: The taper inserts may be oriented so screws and wing locks face either left or right.
1
In the joint you will be replacing with a wing
lock: Remove the screw (A) and the safety
washer (B) from the taper insert (C).
2
Remove the threaded half of the taper insert
(C) and replace with the threaded end from the
wing lock (D). Make sure the square ends of
(D) and the countersunk end of (C) are aligned
inside for a low-profile fit in the joint.
3
Insert the wing lock (E) and the safety washer
(F) into the taper insert (C) half and tighten.
Firmly hold the wing lock (D) while tightening.
CAUTION (Step 4): The retainer clip is very
difficult to remove once installed. Adding the
retainer clip to the wing lock assembly should be
considered a permanent change.
4
To add the retainer clip: With the convex side
facing out, align the retainer clip (G) with the
tip of wing lock (E) and press on firmly.
5
Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each joint being
replaced with a wing lock.
