  • Page 5 Carl Zeiss Particular attention must be paid to the following notes: The MCU 2008 is not equipped with any special devices for protection from substances that are corrosive, potentially infectious, toxic, radioactive, or otherwise hazardous to health. Make sure to observe all legal regulations, particularly the relevant national accident prevention regulations when handling such substances.
  • Page 6 There is a crush hazard and hands may be injured when positioning the stage by means of the MCU 2008 controller. The MCU 2008 can be used for voltages ranging from 100 to 240 V ±10 %, 50 to 60 Hz, without any necessity of additional change of instrument voltage setting.

    Except for action which is explicitly described in this operating manual, no maintenance or repair work may be performed. Repairs may only be carried out by Carl Zeiss service staff or specifically authorized persons. Should any malfunction occur, please get in touch with the Carl Zeiss microscopy service in Germany (see page 16) or your local Carl Zeiss agency.

    The MCU 2008 supersedes the MCU 28. Usable Stages Only DC scanning stages tested by Carl Zeiss Micro Imaging GmbH are allowed to be used. All DC stages operated by the customer in combination with the MCU 28 will also run with the new controller.

    Functional Description Carl Zeiss Functional Description The MCU 2008 is a 2-axis motor controller for DC scanning stages equipped with a disk encoder on the motor axis. The joystick (432903-9902) can be acquired to be used as operating element. The controller is provided with two CAN bus ports and a USB port.
