4.7.4 Replacement of Gas Heat Exchanger – AK1840
! Close gas supply/ isolate 230V supply.
! Remove cover, blown air fan, PCBs, solenoid, fan motors and burner assembly.
- unscrew the 2 flat head screws

securing the rear casing.
- slide out the unit and free from the casing. Example

shown is gas and electric (electric element wiring can be
seen).

4.8 Gas Overheat (O/H) Thermostat check and replacement - AK1854
The overheat thermostat can be checked at the Heat Air Room Heater without DC power being
supplied to the unit by measuring its continuity. The O/H thermostat should normally be in the closed
condition when less than 150
The O/H stat is accessible once the Gas Heat Exchanger has been removed, see previous chapter, and can be checked
directly at the device as shown or on the connectors when removed from the PCB as indicated. Testing on the device is
preferable as it eliminates potential faults in the wiring and connections. To access the PCB please see Chapter 4.5. If the
O/H stat is faulty (no continuity), follow the steps below to fit the replacement.
- with cover removed, use a T20

screwdriver to remove securing
screw.

at the hot air outlet, but do
not remove entirely

- unhinge the bracket, prise from

location and lift wires over
securing rivet.

out by hand then use a removal tool to
firmly tap out exchanger.
- when replacing unit ensure no cables are

snagged between unit and casing as above
- slide stat through gap in the bracket

hinges. Replace with new O/H stat
by reversing steps & secure bracket.
