Overview

13. Recheck the QuickSwap Pressure

Hydrogen is both a fire and explosion hazard when mixed with air. For this reason,
WA R N I N G
hydrogen must not be used as the purge gas.
With both inlet (carrier) and purge gas pressures on, compare the QuickSwap
actual and setpoint pressures. They should be the same (4 psig recommended)
and the actual should be stable with time. If not, see the Troubleshooting
section in the

14. Perform an Initial Leak Test

Check for leaks in the fittings on the GC side of QuickSwap. This includes the
connection of the purge gas line to the QuickSwap tubing, as well as the
column to QuickSwap connection. An electronic helium leak detector is
recommended. Tighten fittings to correct any leaks and retest before
continuing.

15. When MSD Pumpdown is Finished, Autotune the MSD

When the pumpdown is completed (see your MSD documents), Autotune the
MSD as described in its manual. If you have a vacuum gauge, use it to ensure
vacuum is near the normal operating value.
Assuming you received a reasonable tune (high water and background are
acceptable at this early assessment stage), proceed. If not, correct issues and
retry.
