THROTTL CABLE
Throttle cable inspection
Inspect throttle cable for excessive wear, kinking or fraying . Ensure cable moves freely.
NOTE
THROTTLLE CABLE ADJUSTMENT
Check throttle lever free-play, adjust if necessary.
NOTE
Normal throttle free-play is 5mm to 10mm 0.197 In to 0.394
TIP
To adjust cable,
1. Slid rubber protector back to expose throttle cable adjuster .
2. Loosen lock nut and turn the adjuster to obtain proper adjustment .
3. Tighten locking nut and reinstall protector.
NOTE
With the gear shifter set to Neutral position, start the engine .
Check if the throttle cable is adjusted correctly by turning handlebar fully to
the right then to the left. If the engine RPM increases, readjust the throttle
lever free-play. Ensure throttle cable is properly routed and not binding on
anything when handlebar is turned.
NOTE
The throttle cable must be replaced if any signs of wear , fraying or other damages found.
If cable adjustment is unattainable, see an authorized Rival Motorsports dealer.
Throttle cable lubrication
Lubricate cable using silicone cable lubricant to reduce premature wear and to ensure proper movement of the cable.
Measure throttle free play at the tip of the lever .
The Handlebar should move left to right
without change in engine RPM.
