20. Air Conditioning (optional)

The reverse cycle air conditioner system consists of a 12,000 BTU self contained air conditioning unit,
a seawater pickup, strainer, water pump, sump pump and control unit. The air conditioning unit,
located on the starboard side of the aft berth, can be accessed by removing a panel located on the port
side of the air conditioner cabinet. Care should be taken to not stow items around the unit that may
block the return air grill or damage the refrigerant gas lines to the compressor.
Operation
Prior to starting the air conditioner make sure that the water pickup seacock, located in the aft bilge
and accessed through the cockpit floor access hatch, is OPENED. The air conditioner is controlled by a
keypad located on the starboard side of the cabin. The panel allows for either automatic control of a
preset temperature, or it allows you to vary the blower speed and temperature manually. When the air
conditioner unit is turned on, seawater is pumped into the system through the seacock and strainer.
The water passes through the compressor cooling the condensing coils, then flows overboard to a thru
hull drain. Any condensation on the air conditioner unit will collect in the air conditioner pan and drain
overboard.
There are two directional air ducts located on the air conditioner cabinet providing air throughout the
cabin area.
