Step 1. Make sure the retaining clips are in the fully-open position; then, align the keys on the DIMM with
the connector.
Step 2. Firmly press both ends of the DIMM straight down into the connector until the retaining clips snap
into the locked position.
Step 3. If you are installing additional DIMMs, do so now.
After you install the DIMM, complete the following steps:

• For proper system cooling, do not operate the server for more than 2 minutes without either a disk drive or
a filler panel installed in each bay.
• Before you make changes to disk drives and drive related components, back up all important data that is
stored on drives.
• Before you remove any component of a RAID array, back up all RAID configuration information.
