Monochromated X-Ray Source with XR5 Electron Gun
2
Introduction
This document covers the overview and basic maintenance of the Monochromated X-
ray Source with an XR5 Small Spot Electron Gun, as would be required by an average
user. Detailed operation of the Sources using the Avantage Software is covered by
using the online manual loaded with the software datasystem. It does not include detail
on the initial installation and setting up of the electron gun or crystals nor any
troubleshooting or maintenance which would require the user to directly access high
voltage. It includes procedures for replacement of certain consumable items such as
anodes and filaments which require the system to be vented and subsequently baked.
